Fed up with your weight?

Have you tried every diet in the book?

Do you lose weight then put it straight back on?

Have you stared to avoid mirrors?

Have people started to make the odd comment?

Do your clothes feel a bit too tight?

Has your doctor commented on your weight?

Whatever your reason for reading this – you will be wondering whether or not the Adams Diet will work for you. Some of you will be optimistic – some of you may doubt it will make any difference in the long term and some of you will be simply curious.

The Adams Diet has been designed and developed to make the diet cycle a thing of the past. Please note that this system is not simply a diet – it is a system that will teach you how to lose weight and maintain weight loss over for life. Whilst the system focuses on nutrition and exercise, it also concentrates on your mind as it’s often our thought processes that stand in the way of success.

Eat healthy

Whatever you might read or hear – our bodies need 5 main nutrients to work well. If you miss out one or more nutrient, or over indulge in one or more, then you can expect your body to malfunction. This is pure science.

Our bodies need

  • Carbohydrates (for energy)
  • Protein (for growth and repair)
  • Vitamins and minerals (the spark plugs that make all our systems work well)
  • Water (To transport all the nutrients around the body)
  • Fat (for protection and insulation)

Our bodies need these in different proportions – (the proportions having been calculated scientifically and are endorsed by the Food Standards Agency who advise government standards.)

The Adams Diet is built around the very best nutritional standards and the system automatically ensures you enjoy optimum nutrition whilst losing weight. You are therefore protecting your body and mind, rather than starving them of the optimum nutrients they need.

The system has been designed so that your body has all the right nutrients in the correct amount. Balanced nutrition is scientifically linked to energy levels, immunity, healthy skins, hair and nails and long-term health conditions. If you are overweight the system will produce gradual weight loss.

In order for the system to work, everyday you will need to:

Eat

  • 7-8 portions of starchy carbohydrates/cereals (490 - 560 kcals)
  • 7-8 portions of fruit and vegetables (315 - 360)
  • 2-3 portions of protein (220 - 330)
  • 2-3 portions of dairy or alternatives (220 - 330)
  • 0-2 portions of fats and sugars (combined - not two of each) (0 - 90)

Drink

  • 8 glasses of water

Do

  • A minimum of 30 minutes brisk activity or 3 x 10 minutes every day.

The system works if you eat ALL of the portions suggested. The only ones you can leave out are fats and sugars (as in our society the food we eat contains sufficient fat to provide our bodies with the insulation it needs.)

It is important to remember that if you eat too little or skip meals:

  • You will get hungry, lose energy and easily lose control
  • Your body will register a food storage and hold onto its fat stores rather than release them.
  • Any weight loss will be short term and weight gain will be likely in the long run.

Life long weight management

Many people experience a lifetime battle with their weight. 10 steps forward, 11 steps back is often described. As life gets busier, and responsibilities increase, it is so much more difficult to get to grips with weight and return to the weight you used to be or want to be. Most people resort to dieting to lose weight or joining a gym. Both are short-term fixes, and whilst may produce weight loss for a while, more often than not are unsustainable over time.

The Adams Diet is not a just a diet. It is a system that will teach you how to visually measure your portions, adjust your eating according to how active you are each day and how to prepare and eat nutritionally balanced meals.

The aim is to teach you how to self manage your weight, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. The system will help you plan ahead, and deal with the days when things don’t go quite according to plan.

The system has a nutritionally sound research base and will produce a steady weight loss over time. However, the system also suggests that many people need to consider how they need to change/adjust habitual responses around food and exercise decisions. Learning how to manage these responses is a life-long investment and will help you avoid repeating the same solutions that don’t work.
